Saint (St.) Albertus Magnus, also known as St Albert the Great and Albert of Cologne, he was a German Dominican Friar as well as a Catholic Bishop. Later canonised as a Catholic saint, St. Albert was known during his lifetime as ‘doctor universalis’ and ‘doctor expertus’. Scholars such as James A. Weisheipl and Joachim R. Söder have referred to St. Albert as the greatest German philosopher and theologian of the Middle Ages.
